Viva By Crown is a prestigious five-tower development in Sydney that sits above Top Ryde City shopping centre, offering high end apartments in one of the city’s fast-growing suburbs.

The residential project was designed by renowned architect Koichi Takada and delivered by award-winning developer Crown International who, as leaders in the apartment sector, are committed to modular bathrooms to stay ahead of the rest of the building industry.

Project Completion Date: March 2014 Total Bathroom Pods: 66

“Using Interpod bathrooms accelerated the program because you have to select all the fittings and tiles prior to pouring in the first bit of concrete. It makes everybody think about the finish of the project before it even starts – that in itself is a large time saver,” said Gary Cory from Crown, General Manager Construction.

“While the building was in construction, the pods were also being built, and slipped straight in when the building was built. [This simplicity in instalment] is why the Interpod bathrooms were so successful.”

Altogether 96 bathrooms were required for the project, but because the building was already half built, only 66 pods could be installed. Cory noted that the design of the upper floors was changed to suit the use of pods, which ended up being a perfect fit, saving the time and labour required on site, and speeding up the construction program considerably.

“I think we might have saved 20 odd thousand dollars, but in the time it took us to build 66 bathrooms and install them, we were still building 20 conventional bathrooms. That took about three to four months off the program,” he said.

Crown were also pleased with the quality of the apartment bathrooms, stating that in the main, the quality was very, very good.

The project’s size and the fact that it is sitting on top of an active shopping centre, meant Crown needed to minimise crane movements, site personnel, and noise to existing residents and shoppers, while delivering luxury bathrooms that fit in with the prestigious living experiences Crown provides.

66 Interpod bathrooms were delivered and installed, significantly minimising construction impact and speeding up the program due to their unique ability to be “locked in” when they came on site, with services easily connected from corridors.

Integrated quality laundries and luxury bathrooms featured standards of finishes that met the expectations of both Crown and architect Koichi Takada. Using Interpod bathrooms also helped Crown meet its completion deadline, reduce capital and finance costs, and gave them a new alternative to building traditional bathrooms for future projects.

Bathrooms for Top Ryde were fitted with water and energy efficient appliances, including dual flush toilets, low-flow taps and pressure controlled shower heads.
